New Beginnings In The UWS

Client Testimonial

Moving from an apartment in which I have been living for many years is a challenge that defies description. However, Alex’s guidance, provided in a calm, thoughtful manner, proved that the challenge can be broken down into manageable pieces so that they don’t become overwhelming and leave one in a frozen state of mind.

The skills that she brought to this work were always accompanied by suggestions and above all,an ability to listen sensitively when confronting difficult decisions.

Decluttering: An often difficult process involving complex feelings of loss, especially items handed down from parents and grandparents. Her questions elicited responses of what these objects meant in my life – though they had lived in a drawer tarnishing for lack of use – giving clarity to my decisions as to what to keep and what to discard. She went out of her way to search for someone who would buy some of these objects, often willing to travel to meet with the buyer.

Packing and moving: Six weeks before the moving date, Alex created a detailed weekly schedule of tasks to be completed before the move: e.g., preparing the new apartment and ensuring all belongings were packed and ready to be transported. Although I had arranged for the moving company to pack my belongings, I felt confident that the fragile and precious items would be safe from damage by Alex’s watchfulness throughout the packing and moving process. This was achieved by her detailed lists of instructions to the movers, facilitating a careful and swift transport.

Unpacking and designing a new home: Alex is an artist. Her paintings exhibit an extraordinary eye for complexity of color and form, a valuable asset in providing a creative and beautiful space. However, the initial tasks are physical – moving furniture and heavy boxes to the spaces where they would be set up and unpacked. Sometimes, the furniture was re-situated when the original site did not work. The design that resulted was due to Alex’s gifts in creating beautiful space and color, from the placing of furniture to the paintings and photos on the walls. It was gratifying to see Alex enjoying the process of putting the finishing touches on the walls, demonstrating her love and dedication to this work. I could not have done this work without her. In two weeks, the new apartment became a home.

Organizing doesn’t have to cost lots of money.

In this case, we utilized post it notes to add categories to the folders in which the client had papers.

These are everyday papers in which they reference frequently & they can update the topic quickly.

Alex is awesome!

She very attentively listened to me and then patiently, yet quickly had an efficient plan to declutter and organize.

It really helped me to have someone right there as a guide because sometimes letting go of your stuff is really about momentum and finding a system that works for you. Once you literally “sort it all out,” then you can very clearly see what you have, want, need and no longer need.

My closet feels so much more spacious, calmer and I love that all of my clothes have a home and a specific place.

Alex worked seamlessly and best of all I can easily keep this going every day.

If you’re thinking about repurposing your place then I highly encourage you to jump in. Alex will guide you every step of the way!
